Hello Cruisers,

Online registration for the Colonies Cruisers 2021 season
will open on April 1 on our colonies.swimtopia.com website. All Colonies Swim
& Tennis Club annual dues and initiation fees must be paid prior to swim
team registration. This year’s fees for the swim team are $115 per swimmer for
the first two swimmers in a family, $70 for the third swimmer, and a family
maximum of $300. We will again offer a free team T-shirt to every registered
swimmer.

Tentative date of first practice: May 17

GRAL’s plan for this season is to have a “virtual meet” type of season unless Governor Northam relaxes the COVID restrictions enough to have actual dual meets (with both teams present) by June 1. Virtual meets would mean each team swims at its own pool and then the two meet results are combined later. If, by June 1, Virginia allows a sufficient number of people to gather for an outdoor dual swim meet to be held then GRAL will hold a normal season.

Champs is scheduled to be held at SwimRVA on Monday July 26 and Tuesday July 27 with 12 and unders on the first day, and 13 and olders on day 2.

With Champs being held earlier than normal GRAL has
determined that the regular season meets will start one week earlier than
normal. Here are the tentative dates for our meets:

• Meet 1: June 9


• Meet 2: Week of June 14, date TBD due to H.S. Graduations


• Meet 3: June 23


• Meet 4: June 30


• Meet 5: July 7


• Meet 6: July 13

IMPORTANT: When online registration goes live on April 1 we
do not expect to have a final home and away meet schedule, with corresponding
volunteer job shifts, therefore volunteer job signups will not be available
during your initial registration. We still expect each family to
volunteer to work 6 meet shifts during the season, assist with one spirit
event, and contribute a concession food item for one home meet. Volunteer job
signups will open on Swimtopia after we have a more firm meet schedule, and
everyone will be able to sign up for their required job shifts.
