Volunteer Policy

To ensure adequate staffing of all jobs and equity of effort among swim team families, all non-exempt swim team families must complete the following minimum, annual volunteer hour requirements as a condition of their children’s participation on the swim team: 5 meet shifts, 1 setup/clean up shift, and 1 team event or spirit activity.  Volunteer requirements are set by category to ensure resources are deployed as they are needed and category limits cannot be swapped or adjusted.

Volunteer Non-Compliance/No-Show

Families who do not complete their assigned volunteer shift due to a no-show, or do not notify the Volunteer Coordinator of their replacement at least one hour prior to the event, will be fined $75.  Invoices will be issued within 24 hours, and families will not be able to participate in any swim team events, meets, or practices until the fine is paid.

Families who have an outstanding balance prior to the following year’s swim team registration, will not be eligible to register for the swim team.

Volunteer Roles

All volunteer opportunities will be made available online in SwimTopia beginning May 3 at 7 PM. You must complete the selection of your required jobs for the entire season by May 10. The swim team parent committee will assign volunteer jobs to any families that do not complete this process by May 10

Meet Shifts:  Various jobs are available.   Visit Volunteer Job Descriptions page for more information.  Families with at least one swimmer over the age of 9 are kindly asked to select 2nd shift for at least 3 of their meet shift jobs.

Certified Officials:  We are always recruiting parents to work as certified officials in Clerk of Course, as Strokes & Turns Judges, Referees, and Starters, which requires GRAL training. Contact Patrick Lowry for information.

Set Up or Clean Up:  Lend a hand to get the pool deck ready or clean up and store meet equipment at the conclusion of a home meet.

Spirit Activities and Team Events: Assist with balloon delivery on the day of our first meet, the end-of-season award banquet, weekly pep rallies, or the Swim-A-Thon.
