Volunteer Sign Ups Open Tuesday June 1
Greetings Swim Team Families,
We are thrilled that we are just about 2 weeks from our first swim meet. We have a handful of important updates for you. Please review the following carefully to ensure you don't miss anything.
Calendar Change: Meet 3 will now be held on TUESDAY, JUNE 22
All meets will be VIRTUAL and held at HOME. This means we will swim against other teams, but each team will be at their own pool. We remain members of GRAL and swimmer times are important. Each swimmer's times will be entered and compared to the other team. This decision was made after much careful consideration regarding participant safety and our inability to safely space home and visitor teams at our pool. We also recognize that the decision to remain virtual this season presents additional volunteer requirements and opportunities as we have to facilitate and run 6 home meets. Your cooperation and teamwork as swim team families is very important to us.
Please take this opportunity to review the volunteer descriptions as found on our website. https://colonies.swimtopia.com/volunteer-job-descriptions.
If you have any questions regarding volunteer positions, please contact Stephanie Denholm
Volunteer sign ups will be opened on TUESDAY, JUNE 1 at 8:00pm. We will send an email reminder with instructions on how to sign up for shifts on Tuesday afternoon.
Each family will be required to sign up for:
1. 6 meet shifts
2. 1 concessions contribution (ice or drinks)
3. 1 spirit event*
*Spirit events include: Balloon Delivery, Spirit Activities (during practices the morning of each meet), Swim-A-Thon Breakfast, and End-of-Season Party
Your swimmer will NOT be able to attend practice or swim in a meet until you have successfully signed up for all 6 meet shifts. If at any time you cannot meet your commitment it is your responsibility to find a substitute. You can use the parent directory to assist you with contacts.
With 6 home meets this summer, please remember that we will need your help cleaning up the pool area at the end of each meet. Each family will be expected to help clean up after TWO meets throughout the season. Please refer to the following clean up schedule:
Families with the last names:
- P-Z -- 1st Meet AND 4th Meet
- A-G – 2nd Meet AND 5th Meet
- H-O – 3rd Home AND 6th Meet
We need everyone to sign up for their SIX meet shifts no later than Sunday, June, 6th.
Again, our meets cannot run without the commitment from all swimmer families and the burden should not be held by just a few shoulders, especially those who hold year long positions. Many positions are requirements from GRAL and cannot be adjusted. Thank you in advance for doing your part to ensure a FUN season!
An updated printable calendar is attached to this email for your reference.
Keep on Cruisin'
Your Swim Team Committee
