Pre-Meet Email: Colonies @ Church Run 6/22
Good evening, Cruisers!
We are moving into our second meet of the season against Church Run tomorrow night! As with last week, please read this email in its entirety, as it has important information about the meet.
Meet theme: Colonies! Wear your spirit wear or blue and green.
1. Meet Timeline
4:45pm - 5:30pm: Check-In
If you are going to be late to check-in/the meet or you are suddenly unable to attend, please email me as soon as possible at [email protected].
All swimmers must arrive to check-in with their events (except relays) already written down or memorized. I will not be able to write down or pull up their events during check in. A pdf is attached to this email with all swimmers' events. Please reference this for event numbers.
As with last week, I will be doing check in and working on relays/adjusting entries based off of changing attendance, so please save all non-emergency questions until check-in has ended!
I will also be asking whether you are able to make our rain date, Thursday the 23rd, at check in.
5:15 - 5:45pm: Away Team (Colonies) Warm-ups
5:15 - 5:30: 10 and under
5:30 - 5:45: 11 and over
*Note that this is different from last week!*
All swimmers must arrive behind the blocks for warm ups BEFORE their allotted time. We will start at exactly 5:15pm and 5:30pm.
TBA: Team Meeting and Cheer. Location and time to be announced during warm-ups.
6:00pm: Meet Start Time
2. Individual Events and Clerk of Course
All swimmers must arrive to check-in with their events (except relays) already written down or memorized. Their events will be listed on the attachment to this email.
The Clerk of Course is located in the baby pool area. Swimmers MUST go to the clerk of course as soon as their event is called. Please make sure you are listening carefully to the announcer, checking the event board, or keeping track of who is in the pool at all times. Individual names will not be called to the clerk if your swimmer is missing. Particularly with relays, if we are missing someone, that means three other swimmers will not be able to participate either.
Heat and lane numbers will be given out upon arrival to the clerk of course. Coaches will not have this information at check in.
Swimmers who are not participating in the event called to the clerk are not allowed to enter the clerk, nor are parents. Only swimmers participating in the called event and coaches!
3. Relays
Relays for 8 and under swimmers will be posted before the beginning of the meet. Relays for 9-18 year olds will be posted at the completion of 8 and under relays. Because of the relay structure with four swimmers per relay and this being an IM week (IM relay structure differs from freestyle relays), not all swimmers will participate in relays.
Please remember that relays are subject to change throughout the course of the meet. Relays are not "set" until the swimmers are behind the block. Please check back to the relay board constantly for updates. We will announce the location of the board during the team meeting. DO NOT leave the meet until you or your swimmer have checked with a coach on whether or not they are participating in a relay. Again, they can adjust at the last minute. If you leave and have not checked, you may be leaving a relay team with only three swimmers! In the case of an emergency where you have to leave the meet, please have your parent(s) notify us as soon as possible.
4. Important Notes
Swim Caps: Our caps have not come in yet for the season. Swimmers may wear any cap that they have. If the cap has another team on it (ex. NOVA, school teams, etc.) it must be turned inside out so the name is not appearing.
Body writing/markings: Swimmers are not allowed to have any other writing or tattoos (ex. the Cruiser tattoos) on them other than their events. The referee has the discretion to disqualify for this rule, and it may be strongly enforced!
Swim shirts: No swim shirts are allowed during competition.
Sportsmanship: Please reiterate to your swimmers the importance of sportsmanship throughout the meet. They did a great job last week, let's keep it up! :)
Pool rules: Please make sure your swimmer is following all rules of the host pool. Specifically for swim meets, this means that swimmers are not allowed to be in the pool, on the diving boards, or playing with the water in the pool (including the diving well and baby pool) before, during, or after the meet unless specifically directed by coaching staff or they are actively racing.
Weather: Unfortunately the radar is not in our favor for tomorrow night. :( Please have SwimTopia notifications enabled so that you can receive updates on delays. As Stacey mentioned in her email, if we are unable to meet the GRAL timeline for the meet, we will move it to our rain date of Thursday, 6/23.
See you all tomorrow, and Go Cruisers!
Coach Julia
