Week of 7/4 - 7/8

Good evening, Cruisers!

Happy 4th of July weekend!  I hope are all doing something fun and relaxing to celebrate.  We have officially made it over halfway through our swim season!  In addition to the usual weekly email, I am going to add in a few mid-season reminders at the end.

RSVPs for meet 4 vs. Canterbury are due by 11:59pm tonight.  I am still missing a few, so please indicate your attendance!  Swimmers will not be placed in events or relays if I do not know their attendance status.  Thanks!

The pdf with results from Wednesday's swim meet is attached to this email.  The final score was Burkwood 1837, Colonies 963.  We made a great effort at going up against a team that we knew would be challenge to beat, and we (the coaches) are proud of everyone for swimming their hardest and being gracious hosts.  Thank you again to all of our volunteers who helped out, we can't run these meets without you all!

A look at this week:

Monday 7/4: NO PRACTICE! Enjoy your 4th!

Tuesday 7/5: Practice as scheduled.  Swimmers will be given their events for Wednesday's meet at practice, as well as in the pre-meet email.

Wednesday 7/6: Home meet vs. Canterbury @ 6:00pm.

A.M. practice as scheduled with spirit activity.

Thursday 7/7: Team fun practice from 10:00am - 11:00am, afternoon fun practice as scheduled.

Friday 7/1: A.M. practice as scheduled.

Mid-Season Reminders

1. We appreciate your promptness thus far with getting in meet RSVPs.  I will continue to either have them due the Friday or Sunday before the meet.  The earlier they are in, the easier and more quickly we can do meet entries.  RSVPs are also open for the remaining meets of the season.

2.  When filling out meet RSVPS, make sure you are indicating whether your swimmer will be present for relays.  If there is no indication that they cannot be present for relays, I am operating under the assumption that they are available.  Please do not arrive to the swim meet and tell me your swimmer can no longer participate in relays after you did not indicate otherwise, unless they are incapable of doing so due to sickness or injury (email me ahead of time if you can!).  While relays can change during the meet, they are most often switches of position within relays.  Pulling a swimmer entirely from relays the day of the meet creates a lot of work for coaches and computer reps, which can delay the meet.  Thank you for your understanding!

3. Please review with your swimmer(s) the importance of participating fully in practice, listening to coaches' instruction, and respecting their coaches and teammates.  The best route to improvement is complete participation and fully listening to coaches' feedback!

Have a great 4th of July, and Go Cruisers!

Coach Julia
