New Swim Team Families

Hello!  Thank you for contacting us regarding new swimmers for the 2017 season.  You have been set up with an account on our website.  To aid registration, please log in ahead of time and update your profile.

The website is colonies.swim-team.us upper right corner is login.  Your login is the email you received this on with the default password cruisers.  Once logged in, under Actions please select parent page and update profile.  Please fill in all information, including emergency contact and insurance as we much have these for your child to be registered.  You can add additional email addresses to receive the emails at that time. You can also change your password.

While on the website, please note the meet dates.  When registration opens (Apr 18 at 7:00 pm) you will need to select all your volunteer shifts at that time and pay the $90/child registration fee (there is a cap for those with 3 swimmers).  The earlier you register, the better the selection will be so I encourage you to note ahead of time which meets you can attend.

Volunteer requirements - please make sure you understand these prior to registration

5 meet shifts - each meet is broken into first half and second half shifts.  If you have only 8 years old and younger swimmers, they will be finished at the end of the first half.  If you have older swimmers we ask you to sign up for 3 of your shifts in the second half.  Each meet is its own event you will click on to choose shifts.

I'm happy to answer any questions you have about what the jobs are.  You may sign up for anything except the ones that say Certified Officials.

1 team event - this can be kickoff party, balloon delivery, spirit breakfast, swim a thon or awards banquet.  These are all listed as separate events when signing up.

1 food item - this can be at a spirit breakfast or at a home meet

Practice

You can also find on our website practice times.  Any swimmer that is 6 years old or younger OR is under 10 and never been on a swim team before should start in the beginner practice group.  The coaches will move swimmers up as appropriate.

Team requirements

To be on the team, all swimmers must be able to swim the length of the pool unassisted and without stopping no later than June 1.  They must be able to follow coach instructions and stay on the wall when needed.  This is a safety issue and is totally at the discretion of the coaches.  Any swimmer failing to meet these requirements will receive a full refund.

I know it can be very overwhelming the first summer as a swim team parent.  Please don't hesitate to ask questions, either of me or I can set you up with a mentor parent.  It's better to ask than not know!  It seems like a lot now, but it's very manageable and a lot of fun.  I am the parent rep for the 2017 season which means I will be your primary point of contact.

Thanks everyone!
